Apps Script Error: This Report is Over 50MB of Compressed Data

You may receive the following error message in your Data Studio or Google Sheets report:

"Apps Script error: This report is over 50MB of compressed data. Please reduce the date range and/or fields in this report."

Cause

Power My Analytics' Data Studio and spreadsheets data connectors use the Google Apps Script platform. This error occurs when your report's data exceeds Apps Script's 50MB compressed data limit.

This can be caused by:
  1. Using an extensive date range in your report
  2. Using a large number of fields in your report

Solutions

Follow these steps to resolve the error:
  1. Reduce the date range. Narrow the time period covered in your report, or use smaller increments (such as monthly instead of yearly).
  2. Use fewer fields. Removed unneeded or unused fields from your report, and focus only on essential metrics and dimensions.
After making adjustments, reload your report. If the error persists, further reduce the date range or field count.

  1. Plan your reports with data limits in mind
  2. Use date range controls in Data Studio or date range settings in the spreadsheets add-on for dynamic date selection
