Understanding how Looker Studio connectors are assigned to Power My Analytics accounts
When you create a Looker Studio data source using a Power My Analytics connector, the subscription is assigned to your PMA account based on the Google account active in your browser at the time of connection. This article explains how that assignment works and how to make sure your connector is linked to the right account.
One challenge with Looker Studio is that when you create a data source using a Power My Analytics connector, you are directed to Looker Studio's platform and away from the Power My Analytics hub. When connecting to the data source (Facebook, Microsoft Ads, etc.), there is no way to specify from within Looker Studio which PMA account should receive the subscription. Instead, PMA reads the email address of the Google account you are currently signed into in your browser and assigns the subscription to the matching PMA account.
The Google account you are signed into in your browser when connecting is the email address that will be matched to your Power My Analytics account:

To ensure your Looker Studio connector is assigned to the correct Power My Analytics account, please keep the following in mind:- Your PMA account email address must match your active Google account in the browser. Because Looker Studio is a Google product, you must be signed into a Google account in your browser to use it. PMA will assign the connector subscription to whichever PMA account has the same email address as your active Google browser session. Make sure you are signed into the Google account whose email address matches your Power My Analytics account before connecting in Looker Studio.
- Use an email address you can regularly access. Power My Analytics will send all account communications — including billing and subscription notifications — to the email address on your PMA account. Choose an address you check frequently.
- Use an email address that suits your company or agency. Choose an address appropriate for connecting data sources, administering billing, and representing your organization within PMA.
PMA account sign-in and Looker Studio browser sign-in are separate things. Power My Analytics supports two ways to log in to your PMA hub:
Sign in with Google (using a Gmail or Google Workspace account) and
Sign in with email and password (using any email address). Either method is valid for creating and managing your PMA account.
However, regardless of how you log in to PMA, Looker Studio itself always requires an active Google browser session. This means that when connecting a Looker Studio data source, the email address on your PMA account must be the same as the Google account you are currently signed into in your browser — so that PMA can correctly match and assign the subscription.
Once your account is created, you can add additional email addresses to your account for accessing invoices, adding payment methods, and viewing subscription details.
