Google Analytics Data Connector User Guide

The following article is a guide to automating reports with your Google Analytics connector. It includes information on available data as well as currently unavailable data and tips on how to get the most out of your Google Analytics reports. To begin creating reports with your Google Analytics connector, you will need at least one Google Analytics account as well as access to Looker Studio or Google Sheets.


Available Data

  1. Key Performance Indicators - Users, sessions, bounce rate, and average session duration. Users and new users by time and medium.
  2. Audience - Users, sessions, page views, average session duration, new users, unique page views, page views per session, and bounce rate.
  3. Acquisition - User breakdowns by medium, bounce rate, and eCommerce conversion rate.
  4. Page Behavior Breakdowns - Pageviews and unique page views by page path. Sums for unique page views, average time on page, bounce rate, and % exit.
  5. Event Behavior Breakdowns - Total events, unique events, and event value by event category, event action, and event label. Sums for unique events, sessions with events, events per session, and event value.
  6. Multi-Channel Funnels: Assisted Conversions - Assisted conversions, assisted conversion value, last click conversion, last click conversion value, and assisted/last click conversion by multi-channel funnel grouping.
  7. Multi-Channel Funnels: Top Conversion Paths - Conversions and conversion value by multi-channel funnel grouping path.
  8. Multi-Channel Funnels: Path Length - Conversions and conversion value by path length in interactions.
  9. Custom Fields - Insights are available under the names custom1, custom2, and so on.

API Limitations

Realtime reports are not currently available for Google Analytics or GA4.

Connection Requirements

For a successful connection, your google account must be assigned at least a Viewer role.

On Your First Connection

When you first connect to Google in your Hub, make sure you are logged out of all extra Google accounts. Being logged into multiple Google accounts may result in errors.



You will be asked to grant permissions to your Google account. To use Google Analytics, you must select Edit Google Analytics management entities and View and Manage your Google Analytics data.



Advanced Segments

Power My Analytics' connector does not currently support Advanced Segments. Filters should be sufficient to sort this data.

Backfilling

Google Analytics collects live data only. Backfilling and database storage are not available for this connector.
