Connect to a Data Source

Info
We understand that getting started with a new tool can be a bit overwhelming. In this article, we'll guide you through the process of connecting a data source to Power My Analytics and explain how our data collection works to make your experience smooth and enjoyable.

Step-by-Step Guide to Connect a Data Source

  1. Visit hub.powermyanalytics.com to get started.
  2. Click on Sources in the left navigation panel, then click on the + New Data Source button.

  3. Choose a connector from the available options. Ensure that your browser settings allow pop-ups.
  4. Authenticate the source account to complete the connection process.

What Power My Analytics Does for You Automatically

  • Historic data collection: Most connectors start collecting up to 13 months of historical data as soon as you create a report. This process typically takes a few minutes, but for some data sources, it might take a couple of hours to complete the initial backfill.
  • Daily data refreshes: We refresh your data every day with all our connectors. During these refreshes, we also update the past 7 days of data to account for any changes that may have occurred. These updates happen around midnight in the time zones set in the Sources section of your hub.

When to Manually Backfill Connection Data

  • Extended historic data collection: Some connectors allow you to force backfills of data for up to 2 years or more.
  • Troubleshooting: If you experience missing or incorrect data issues, manually backfilling connection data is often the simplest and most effective solution.
By following these steps and understanding our data collection process, you'll be well-equipped to create informative and accurate reports in Power My Analytics. If you need any assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to our friendly support team.
