Country Shows N/A When Paired with Cost in Google Ads Reports

Info
[All Plans] If you build a Google Ads report by country and the Country or Country Code column comes back as N/A, nothing is broken with your connection. Cost is not one of the fields Google Ads location reporting provides in Power My Analytics, and pairing it with Country or Country Code keeps the country values from resolving. This article shows you how to get spend by geography a different way.

What Is Happening

You added Country or Country Code to your report and paired it with Cost. Instead of country names, the Country and Country Code columns show N/A on every row, and no error message appears.

That is expected behavior today. Power My Analytics' Google Ads location reporting gives you three metrics: Avg. CPM, Impressions, and Interactions. Cost is not one of them, so the report cannot match spend to countries, and the country columns return N/A.

How to Get Spend by Geography Instead

  1. Open your report and remove Country or Country Code.
  2. Add Campaign as your dimension.
  3. Add Cost as your metric.
  4. Group your campaigns by country using your campaign names or structure. For example, if your campaigns are named "Search - Brand - UK" and "Search - Brand - DE", you already have the country in the name.
  5. Build your country totals from those campaign groups.

This works when your account separates geographies by campaign. If a single campaign targets several countries, its spend cannot be split by country in Power My Analytics.

What You Can Report by Country

Field
What it tells you
Impressions
How many times your ads were shown to people in that country
Interactions
Clicks, calls, and other engagements from that country
Avg. CPM
What you paid on average for every thousand impressions in that country

Avg. CPM is the closest thing to a spend signal available at the country level. It tells you your rate, not your total.

Good to Know

  • This is a field availability limit in Power My Analytics' Google Ads location reporting, not a problem with your connection or permissions. Reconnecting your Google Ads data source will not change it.
  • Google's own API does provide cost at the country level, so adding Cost to location reporting is a tracked field request. Want it prioritized? Submit a ticket and ask for Cost by country.
  • You will see N/A rather than an error message. Some reporting tools show this as a blank cell instead.
  • If the Country and Country Code columns still show N/A after you remove Cost (and other spend metrics) from the report, something else is going on: submit a ticket and our support team will take a look.
Notes
If your report shows "Community Connector Error: Invalid Combination of Metrics and Dimensions Report Configuration Issue" rather than N/A, that is a different problem. See Google Ads Error: Invalid Combination of Metrics and Dimensions Report Configuration Issue.
