You may encounter an authorization error when connecting your Google account as a data source. This guide will help you understand the cause of this error and provide step-by-step instructions to resolve it, ensuring you can seamlessly integrate your Google data with our analytics tools.
Error
When attempting to connect your Google account to PMA's Google connectors (such as Google Ads, Google Analytics 4, Google Business Profile, Google Search Console, or YouTube Analytics), you may encounter one of these error messages:
- "Error 400: admin_policy_enforced"
- "Account restricted"
- "Access blocked: Authorization Error"
Cause
This error occurs because your Google Workspace administrator has set policies that prevent PMA from accessing the required permission scopes.
Solution
To resolve this issue, your Google Workspace administrator needs to adjust the access settings for the Power My Analytics app. Here's a step-by-step guide for your administrator to follow:
- Access the Google Workspace Admin console.
- Navigate to: Security > Access and data control > API controls.
- In the "API controls" section, find "App access control" and click "Manage Third-Party App Access."
- Locate the Power My Analytics app and click "Change access" next to it.
- Set the access level to "Trusted."
- Click "Next".
- Review the scope and access settings, then click "Change access" to apply the new settings.
Once your Google Workspace administrator has made these changes, return to your Power My Analytics dashboard and attempt to reconnect your Google account as a data source.
