Error: Data Appears Blank in Cells in Google Sheets Report
If your Power My Analytics data appears blank in Google Sheets but becomes visible when you click on the cells, this is likely caused by incorrect column formatting. This article will help you identify and resolve this common formatting issue.
Error
When viewing a report in Google Sheets using Power My Analytics'
spreadsheets addon, numeric data may appear blank in the spreadsheet. However, the data becomes visible when you click on the affected cell.
Cause
This error can occur due to certain cell formatting being applied to the column. Cell values may disappear, or reappear, when the Power My Analytics spreadsheets addon sidebar refreshes the report.
Solution
Step 1: Identify Affected Columns
- Open your Google Sheets report containing Power My Analytics data. Look for columns where data appears blank but shows when you click on individual cells.
- Select the entire column by clicking on the column header (A, B, C, etc.).
- Go to Format → Number in the menu bar and check the current formatting applied to the column.
With the column still selected, choose the appropriate format:
- Number - for metrics like Impressions, Clicks, Sessions
- Currency - for cost and revenue fields
- Percent - for rate fields like CTR, Conversion Rate
- Plain text - for campaign names and other text fields
- The data should immediately become visible in the formatted column.
- Click the refresh icon in the Power My Analytics sidebar to update your data. Verify that all data displays correctly after the refresh.
