When setting up BigQuery exports in Power My Analytics, you may encounter an error message stating "Missing BigQuery Scopes." This guide will help you understand the cause of this error and provide step-by-step instructions to resolve it.

• Occurs: When attempting to select a Google account as a BigQuery destination

Cause

This error occurs due to insufficient permissions granted to Power My Analytics when connecting to your Google account. PMA requires specific BigQuery-related permissions to function correctly.

Solution

Follow these steps to resolve the error:

1. Disconnect the Google account
2. Reconnect the Google account with the correct permissions

Step 1: Disconnect Google Account

Disconnecting and reconnecting a source will not impact any existing reports.

1. Navigate to your Power My Analytics hub.
2. Click Sources in the left navigation panel.
3. Locate the Google account you wish to remove.
4. Click the red "exit" icon next to the account to remove account.
   
   
   
   
5. Click Confirm to disconnect the account.
   
   

Step 2: Reconnect Google Account with Correct Permissions

1. In your Hub, click Sources in the left navigation panel.
2. Click + New Data Source.
   
   
   
   
3. Select Google to add your Google account as a data source.
4. When the permissions popup appears, grant the following permissions to Power My Analytics:
   
   
   
   
   • Insert data into Google BigQuery
   • View and manage your data in Google BigQuery and see the email address for your Google Account
     

Power My Analytics will never edit, create, or delete anything in your BigQuery destination dataset or Google account without your specific approval. Google does not provide a read-only option for these permissions.

After reconnecting your Google account with the correct permissions, attempt to set up your BigQuery export again.
