Stripe Data Connector User Guide
Stripe is a powerful payment processing platform that enables businesses to accept online payments, manage subscriptions, and handle invoicing. This guide will walk you through the process of connecting Stripe to Power My Analytics, creating reports, and understanding key metrics and considerations. By integrating Stripe with Power My Analytics, you'll be able to automate your payment data collection and gain valuable insights into your business's financial performance.
Prerequisites
Before connecting Stripe to Power My Analytics, ensure that:
- Your Stripe account has the Administrator role
Grant Access to a User in Stripe
To grant Administrator access to a user on your Stripe account:
- Open your Stripe settings and go to Invite team members.
- Under Admin Roles, check Administrator.
- Click Send invites. The user will be granted the Administrator role.
Adding Stripe as a Data Source
- Log in to your Power My Analytics hub.
- Navigate to Sources from the main menu.
- Click on + New Data Source.
- Select Stripe from the gallery of available sources.
- You will be prompted to sign in to your Stripe account to authenticate.
Creating a Looker Studio Report
Follow these steps to create a Looker Studio report using your Stripe data:
- After adding Stripe as a data source, go to Reports > Looker Studio in the PMA hub
- Select Stripe under Create Looker Studio Report (this will open the official Looker Studio application in a new window)
- Google Looker Studio Configuration:
- Step 1:
- Name your data source (e.g., "Stripe - Your Organization Name")
- Choose your Power My Analytics hub from the dropdown
- Optional: Leave "Use report template for new reports" checked to use the PMA demo template
- Click Next
- Step 2:
- User Account: Select your Stripe account (for real data) or "Sample Account" (for sample data)
- Click Next
- Step 3:
- Click Connect in the top right to complete the data source configuration
- Step 4:
- Click Create Report in the top right
Key Reports and Fields
Stripe data in Power My Analytics offers a wide range of metrics and dimensions for your reports. Some popular metrics include:
- Key Performance Metrics: Gross volume, Net volume from sales, New customers, Successful payments, Spend per customer, Dispute activity percentage, Dispute count, High risk payments
- Balance Metrics: Total balance, Amount available, Amount in transit to bank
- Transaction Metrics: Gross revenue, Fees, Net revenue
- Payment Metrics: Date, Currency, Status, Description, Amount
- Subscription Metrics: Subscription created, Subscription start date, Subscription ID, Subscription amount, Subscription interval, Subscription plan, Subscription product ID, Subscription quantity, Subscription status

Limitations and Important Considerations
- Backfilling: Power My Analytics can backfill up to 2 years of historical data from Stripe. When you first connect your Stripe account, an initial backfill of 13 months of data will be performed.
