How to Connect to Amazon DSP

How to Connect to Amazon DSP

Info
Connecting Amazon DSP uses your own Login with Amazon (LwA) security profile with Amazon Ads API access. You will need a security profile, approved API access, a Client ID, and a Client Secret. Because Amazon reviews API access requests, the first-time setup can take several days. This article shows you how to set up everything you need and connect Amazon DSP to your Hub.
Notes
Already connect Amazon Ads to Power My Analytics? You can use the same security profile for Amazon DSP. Skip to Step 4 to add the Amazon DSP return URL, and then connect in Step 5.

Before you begin

Make sure your Amazon DSP advertisers are linked to an Amazon Ads manager account that your Amazon login can access. Power My Analytics finds your DSP advertisers through the manager accounts your login can see.

Step 1: Create your Login with Amazon (LwA) security profile

An LwA security profile allows third-party apps like Power My Analytics to access your Amazon account. Before you begin, Amazon recommends reading their Login with Amazon concepts page and their Onboarding Overview.

Register as a developer

Go to developer.amazon.com and sign in with an Amazon account that is managed by multiple members of your organization.
If you are not yet registered as a developer, complete the form. Use an email address that is managed by multiple members of your organization, because Amazon allows only one developer profile per company.
Go back to the Amazon Developer Portal and click Developer Console, then click Login with Amazon.

Create a security profile

  1. Click Create a new security profile.
  2. Enter a Security Profile Name and a Security Profile Description.
  3. Enter your organization's privacy policy URL as the Consent Privacy Notice URL.
  4. Click Save.
Your new security profile has a Client ID and Client Secret. You can view them on this page at any time by clicking Show Client ID and Client Secret. You will need both in Step 5, but first continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Apply for Amazon Ads API access

Amazon recommends reading the Amazon Ads API Authorization Overview before you begin.
  1. Sign in to Amazon Ads with the email address you used in Step 1.
  2. Complete the Amazon form to apply for Direct Advertiser API access. Make sure these options are selected:
    • Data and access: Advertising - Manage advertising campaigns and creative, and receive advertising reporting metrics.
    • Development resources: In-house developer(s) who are employees of the company.
  3. Submit the form. Amazon's review can take several days, and you will receive an approval email from Amazon Ads.

Step 3: Assign API access to your security profile

Warning
Before you start Step 3, open a separate browser tab, sign out of all other Amazon accounts, and sign in to the Amazon account you used in Step 2. This reduces the chance of errors.
  1. Click the link in the approval email from Amazon Ads.
  2. When you see the message about creating a client application with LwA, click Continue.
  3. Select the LwA security profile you created in Step 1 and click Submit.
  4. Check the scopes that are displayed. Amazon DSP needs these two scopes:
    • profile
    • advertising::campaign_management
We recommend taking a screenshot of these scopes in case you need it for troubleshooting later. You can contact Amazon Ads API support to confirm your scopes.

Step 4: Add the Amazon DSP return URL

  1. Sign in to Amazon Developer, click Settings in the top menu bar, then click Security Profiles.
  2. Click the name of your security profile to open its Security Profile Management page, then click the Web Settings tab.
  3. Click Edit. In the Allowed Return URLs field, paste the Amazon DSP return URL:
  4. If the field already has other URLs (for example, the Amazon Ads return URLs), click Add Another and paste the Amazon DSP URL in the new field. Keep the existing URLs so your Amazon Ads connection keeps working.
  5. Click Save.
Notes
The Amazon DSP return URL is different from the Amazon Ads return URLs. If you only have the Amazon Ads URLs, Amazon will show a return URL error when you connect Amazon DSP.

Step 5: Add Amazon DSP to your Hub

  1. In your Power My Analytics Hub, select Sources from the menu, then click + Add new source.
  2. Find Amazon DSP in the gallery.
  3. Select your Region: North America (NA), Europe (EU), or Far East (FE).
  4. Paste the Client ID and Client Secret from your security profile (Step 1).
  5. Click Connect, sign in with the Amazon account that has access to your DSP advertisers, and allow Power My Analytics access.
Your DSP advertisers now appear as accounts under your new Amazon DSP data source. If you have advertisers in more than one region, repeat Step 5 for each region.

You're ready to build a report! See the Amazon DSP Data Connector User Guide for how to create a Data Studio report and which reports and fields are available.
