Looking to bring your Google Ads data into a single, automated reporting workflow? This guide will walk you through connecting Google Ads as a data source in Power My Analytics, so you can centralize your campaign performance metrics, create comprehensive reports, and make data-driven decisions to optimize your advertising spend.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Google account with at least Read-Only access to the Google Ads or Manager account you want to connect
- Permission to grant Power My Analytics access to your Google account during the OAuth flow
Step 1: Add Google Ads as a Data Source in Power My Analytics
- Log out of all Google accounts except the one you want to connect.
- Log in to your Power My Analytics hub at https://hub.powermyanalytics.com.
- Navigate to Sources from the main menu.
- Click + Add new source.
- Select Google Ads from the list of available sources.
- Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
- Grant Power My Analytics access to your Google account and authorize the required permission scope: See, edit, create, and delete your Google Ads accounts and data.
Power My Analytics' connector will never edit, create, or delete anything in your Google Ads account. The full-access permission is required because Google does not offer a read-only option for the Google Ads API.
Once connected, Google Ads will appear in your list of active data sources. Your Google Ads data will automatically begin syncing to your Power My Analytics data warehouse — 13 months of historical data is imported automatically on the initial backfill, with up to 2 years available via manual backfill. When the initial backfill is finished, you can use this data in Data Studio reports, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or export it to your preferred data destination.
Manager (MCC) accounts: Power My Analytics can connect using a Manager account, but Manager-level metrics are not available through the API. To pull data from accounts under a Manager, the connector queries each client account individually.
Conversion lookback windows: Power My Analytics automatically reads each Google Ads account's conversion lookback window settings, so the nightly data sync captures all conversions within your configured attribution window.
