Issue

  • Some posts may be missing from your LinkedIn Companies reports within a specified date range.
  • This occurs when a post's creation date and publish date are different, or when attempting to report carousel (multi-image) posts.

Causes

Creation and Publish Date Discrepancy

  1. PMA's LinkedIn Companies connector uses the creation date (createdAt) as the post date.
  2. The publish date (publishedAt) is not used to determine the date of posts.
  3. Posts with creation dates outside the report range will not appear, even if their publish date falls within the range.
Example:

If you're reporting on LinkedIn Companies posts for June 1 to June 30:

  • A post created on May 31 and published on June 2 would be missing from your report.
  • A post created on June 2 and published on June 3 would be included in your report.

Carousel/Multi-Image Posts

  1. Only a single image can be retrieved for carousel (multi-image) posts. It is not possible to report all of the images in a carousel post. This is a limitation of LinkedIn's API. 

Solution

To include missing posts in your LinkedIn Companies report:

  1. Identify the creation dates of the missing posts.
  2. Adjust your report's date range to include these creation dates.
  3. Run the report again with the updated date range.

Best Practices

  • When planning your reporting strategy, keep in mind the potential discrepancy between creation and publish dates.
  • Consider setting your report's start date a few days earlier than intended to capture posts created just before your desired range.
