If your Google Ads spend in Power My Analytics matches the Google Ads interface on most days but is off by a small amount on a handful of individual dates, here's what's happening and how to fix it yourself.
What Is Happening
Your Google Ads cost for each day is saved the night it syncs. After that, Power My Analytics does not go back and re-read it: the nightly sync picks up from the last day it covered and moves forward, so it doesn't revisit days it has already stored.
This works well almost all the time. But if the figure for one particular day was captured before Google Ads had fully settled it, that day keeps the number it was saved with. The days around it are unaffected, which is why the difference shows up on a handful of scattered dates rather than across the whole range.
For example, one comparison across a 24-day range found every date matching exactly except four scattered dates, with a combined difference of about 0.2% of total spend, Power My Analytics reading higher on each of those four dates.
How to Confirm You're Comparing the Same Thing
Before troubleshooting further, make sure the comparison itself is apples to apples:
- Open your Google Ads report and segment it by day.
- Confirm you're looking at the same Google Ads account and the same date range in both places.
- Note which specific dates differ. If the difference is concentrated on a few dates rather than spread across the whole range, this article applies.
How to Fix It
- In your hub, go to Sources.
- Find your Google Ads source and open the Actions menu (the three-dot icon).
- Select Backfill data range, then choose Custom to enter the specific dates that differ.
- Wait for the backfill to finish, then refresh your report and compare again.
What You'll See
After the backfill completes, the corrected dates pick up the figures currently held by Google Ads, and your totals move to match. Dates that already matched are not affected.
If It Still Doesn't Match
A backfill resolves this in most cases, but not always. If your numbers still don't match after a full backfill, submit a ticket with the date range, the account, and the specific dates that differ, including both totals. Our support team will investigate those individually.
