Google Campaign Manager 360 Data Connector User Guide

Google Campaign Manager 360 Data Connector User Guide

Info
Google Campaign Manager 360 (CM360) is Google's ad management and measurement platform for advertisers and agencies, part of Google Marketing Platform. With the Power My Analytics Google Campaign Manager 360 connector, you can bring your daily campaign delivery, media cost, viewability, and conversion data into your reports. This guide covers what you need before you connect, how to add Campaign Manager 360 as a data source, how to build your first report, and where to find the available fields.
Notes
Google Campaign Manager 360 is an Alpha connector. It is newly released and available for early access, so fields, configuration options, and behavior may change as we build it out. If Google Campaign Manager 360 does not appear when you add a new source in your Hub, submit a ticket to request access. We will expand this guide as the connector develops, and your feedback helps shape what comes next.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • Access to a Google Campaign Manager 360 account.
  • A Google account with a Campaign Manager 360 user profile that can access the advertisers you want to report on. Your user role needs reporting access (permission to create and run reports), because Power My Analytics collects your data through Campaign Manager 360 reports.
  • Your Google sign-in credentials. Campaign Manager 360 connects with a standard Google sign-in, so there is no API key to copy.

Adding Google Campaign Manager 360 as a Data Source

  1. In your Power My Analytics Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Click + Add new source and choose Google Campaign Manager 360 from the gallery. You can type "Campaign Manager" in the search box to find it quickly.
  3. Sign in with the Google account that has your Campaign Manager 360 user profile, review the permissions Google lists, and click Allow to give Power My Analytics access to your Campaign Manager 360 reports.
Power My Analytics finds every advertiser with reporting data from the last 24 months that your Campaign Manager 360 user profile can access. Each advertiser appears as an account under your data source.

For step-by-step connection instructions, see How to Connect to Google Campaign Manager 360.

Creating a Data Studio Report

  1. In your Hub, go to Reports > Data Studio and click the orange + Create report button.
  2. In the Templates window, select Single sources, find Google Campaign Manager 360, and click Open in Data Studio.
  3. In Data Studio, click Authorize if you are prompted, then select your Power My Analytics Hub and the Campaign Manager 360 account you connected.
  4. Click Connect (top right), then click Create report.

Key Reports and Fields

The Google Campaign Manager 360 connector provides one table, Campaigns Insights, with daily performance by advertiser and campaign:
  • Dimensions: Date, Advertiser ID, Campaign, and Campaign ID, plus date parts such as Week, Year Month, and Day Of Week for grouping.
  • Delivery and cost: Impressions, Clicks, CTR, Click Rate, Media Cost, Media Cost eCPM, and Media Cost eCPC.
  • Viewability (Active View): Active View Eligible Impressions, Active View Measurable Impressions, Active View Viewable Impressions, Active View % Measurable Impressions, and Active View % Viewable Impressions.
  • Conversions: Total Conversions, which includes both click-through and view-through conversions.
CTR, Media Cost eCPM, Media Cost eCPC, and the two Active View percentages are calculated by Power My Analytics from the underlying metrics, so they stay accurate when you change the date range or group your data.

For the complete list of available Google Campaign Manager 360 fields, open the Google Campaign Manager 360 Schema Explorer in your Hub.

Limitations and Important Considerations

  • Backfilling: Up to 24 months of historical data is available. Power My Analytics backfills the full 24 months when you first connect your Campaign Manager 360 account as a data source. Campaign Manager 360 prepares each report on its side before sending the data, so your full history can take longer to arrive than it does for many other connectors.
  • Alpha connector: While Google Campaign Manager 360 is in Alpha, fields, configuration options, and behavior may change. If a field is renamed or removed, you may need to update the reports that use it.
  • Reports in your Campaign Manager 360 account: Power My Analytics collects your data by creating and running reports in Campaign Manager 360, so you may see reports created by Power My Analytics in your Campaign Manager 360 reports list. These reports only read your data; Power My Analytics does not change your campaigns, ads, or trafficking settings.
  • Advertisers with recent data: Only advertisers with reporting data in the last 24 months are available. An advertiser with no activity in that period does not appear as an account.
  • Daily, campaign-level data: Data is reported by day at the advertiser and campaign level. Your data refreshes once a day with the daily data sync.

Unavailable Data

The following Google Campaign Manager 360 data is not currently available through the Power My Analytics Google Campaign Manager 360 connector:
  • Ad, creative, placement, and site-level reporting
  • Click-through and view-through conversion breakdowns, revenue, and Floodlight activity-level conversion data
  • Video metrics, and geographic, device, and browser breakdowns
  • Floodlight, Path to Conversion, and Reach reports
If there is a Google Campaign Manager 360 field or report you would like to see, please submit a ticket with a description or screenshot of what you need. Requests during Alpha help us decide what to add next.

Troubleshooting

If your Google Campaign Manager 360 data does not look the way you expect, start with Basic Troubleshooting. A few Campaign Manager 360 patterns are worth checking first:
  • The connection fails or no advertisers appear: The Google account you signed in with may not have a Campaign Manager 360 user profile, or its user role may not include reporting access. Ask your Campaign Manager 360 administrator to confirm your user profile and its advertiser access, then connect again with that Google account.
  • An advertiser is missing: Only advertisers that your user profile can access and that have reporting data in the last 24 months are available. Confirm that you can see the advertiser's data in Campaign Manager 360 with the same Google account.
  • Your history is still filling in: The initial 24-month backfill runs through Campaign Manager 360 reports, which can take a while to generate. Check back after the next daily data sync.
  • You see reports you did not create in Campaign Manager 360: These are the reports Power My Analytics uses to collect your data. This is expected.
