How to Connect to Bing Webmaster Tools

How to Connect to Bing Webmaster Tools

Info
Connecting Bing Webmaster Tools to Power My Analytics takes two quick steps: make sure your site is verified in Bing Webmaster Tools, then sign in from your Hub. This guide walks you through both, plus how to remove the connection later if you need to. For what you can report on once you are connected, see the Bing Webmaster Tools Data Connector User Guide.
Notes
Bing Webmaster Tools is an Alpha connector. It is newly released and available for early access, so fields, configuration options, and behavior may change as we build it out. If Bing Webmaster Tools does not appear when you add a new source in your Hub, submit a ticket to request access.

Requirements

  • A Bing Webmaster Tools account. You can sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools with a Microsoft, Google, or Facebook account.
  • At least one site added and verified in Bing Webmaster Tools. Power My Analytics can only connect to verified sites.
  • No API key is needed. Bing Webmaster Tools connects with a standard sign-in, and Power My Analytics requests read-only access to your data.

Connect Bing Webmaster Tools to Power My Analytics

Step 1: Confirm your site is verified in Bing Webmaster Tools

  1. Sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools with the account you want to connect.
  2. Check that the site you want to report on appears in your site list as verified. If it is not there yet, add the site and complete Bing's verification steps first.

Step 2: Add Bing Webmaster Tools as a data source in your Hub

  1. In your Power My Analytics Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Click + Add new source.
  3. Choose Bing Webmaster Tools from the connector gallery.
  4. Sign in with the same account you use for Bing Webmaster Tools.
  5. Review the access request and approve it to give Power My Analytics read-only access to your Bing Webmaster Tools data.
Your Bing Webmaster Tools account is now connected. Power My Analytics collects data for every verified site on that account and begins backfilling the history Bing Webmaster Tools makes available. You choose which site to report on when you build a report. To get started, see the Bing Webmaster Tools Data Connector User Guide.
Notes
Managing several sites? One connection covers every verified site on the account you sign in with. If you verify another site later, Power My Analytics adds it automatically the next time your site list refreshes.

Troubleshooting Connection Errors

  • The connection fails or no sites are available: The account you signed in with has no verified sites in Bing Webmaster Tools. Verify at least one site, then connect again.
  • You signed in with the wrong account: Bing Webmaster Tools accounts can use a Microsoft, Google, or Facebook sign-in. Sign out of Bing Webmaster Tools, then connect again and choose the account that owns your verified sites.
For other issues, see Basic Troubleshooting.

Remove Your Bing Webmaster Tools Data Source from Power My Analytics

  1. In your Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Locate your Bing Webmaster Tools data source in the list.
  3. Open the three-dot Action menu and select Remove source, then click Confirm.
Notes
Removing the source stops Power My Analytics from collecting your Bing Webmaster Tools data. Any Data Studio reports that use your Bing Webmaster Tools data source will stop returning data once the source is removed.
