How to Connect to Pinterest Ads

How to Connect to Pinterest Ads

Info
Looking to bring your Pinterest Ads data into a single, automated reporting workflow? This guide will walk you through connecting Pinterest Ads as a data source in Power My Analytics, so you can centralize your campaign, ad group, and ad performance metrics, create comprehensive reports, and make data-driven decisions to optimize your Pinterest advertising spend.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • A Pinterest account with at least Ad Account Admin or Campaign access on the ad account you want to connect
If you do not yet have one of the required roles, follow Step 1 below to grant it before continuing.

Step 1: Grant Required Permissions in Pinterest Business Manager

To grant Ad Account Admin or Campaign access to a user in Pinterest Business Manager:
  1. Log in to Pinterest Business Manager and click on Employees.
  2. Select Add employees and enter the user's email address.
  3. Choose Ad account admin or Campaign.
  4. Click Assign permissions.
  5. Have the invited user accept the invitation before continuing.
Notes
Power My Analytics' connector will never edit, create, or delete anything in your Pinterest Ads account. Ad Account Admin or Campaign access is the minimum role required for the connector to read your reporting data.

Step 2: Add Pinterest Ads as a Data Source in Power My Analytics

  1. Log in to your Power My Analytics hub at https://hub.powermyanalytics.com.
  2. Navigate to Sources from the main menu.
  3. Click + Add new source.
  4. Select Pinterest from the list of available sources.
  5. Sign in to your Pinterest account using credentials with Ad Account Admin or Campaign access from Step 1.
  6. Authorize the requested permission scopes to complete the connection.
Once connected, Pinterest Ads will appear in your list of active data sources. Your Pinterest Ads data will automatically begin syncing to your Power My Analytics data warehouse, and you can then use it in Data Studio reports, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or export it to your preferred data destination.
Notes
Backfill window: Pinterest's API limits backfilling to 90 days. Historical data beyond 90 days will be collected starting from the day you first create a report. Reach and Frequency metrics are only available for the past 185 days — requests for longer date ranges will return inaccurate values.
Notes
Data refresh time zone: Pinterest Ads data refreshes at midnight Universal Time (UTC) and cannot be adjusted for your local time zone in the Hub. Plan reports and date ranges with this in mind.
Notes
Targeting type breakdowns: When using breakdowns by targeting type (Audience Include, Country, Gender, Keyword, Location, Pinner Interest, Placement, Targeted Interest, Targeting App Type, Targeting Geo), only one breakdown can be selected per chart, and Reach and Frequency metrics cannot be combined with these breakdowns.
