How to Connect to ShipHero

How to Connect to ShipHero

Info
Connecting ShipHero to Power My Analytics takes two quick steps: make sure a ShipHero user has API access, then enter that user's email and password in your Hub. This guide walks you through both, plus how to remove the connection later if you need to. For what you can report on once you are connected, see the ShipHero Data Connector User Guide.
Notes
ShipHero is an Alpha connector. It is newly released and available for early access, so fields, configuration options, and behavior may change as we build it out. If ShipHero does not appear when you add a new source in your Hub, submit a ticket to request access.

Requirements

  • Access to the ShipHero account that holds your inventory, orders, and purchase orders. If a 3PL runs your warehouse on ShipHero, this is the account your 3PL set up for you, and your 3PL may need to complete Step 1 for you.
  • A ShipHero administrator who can turn on API access for a user.
  • A ShipHero user that signs in with an email and password and has multi-factor authentication (MFA) turned off. ShipHero blocks API access for users with MFA on.
  • No sign-in pop-up is needed. You enter the user's email and password in your Hub, and Power My Analytics uses them once to sign in. The password is not stored.

Connect ShipHero to Power My Analytics

Step 1: Give a ShipHero user API access

We recommend a dedicated ShipHero user for Power My Analytics, so changes to a team member's login (such as a new password or MFA) do not interrupt your data.
  1. Sign in to ShipHero as an administrator and open the Users & Roles page.
  2. Create a new user for Power My Analytics (for example, reports@yourcompany.com), or select an existing user.
  3. Make sure the user's role can view the inventory, orders, and purchase orders you want to report on.
  4. Scroll to the API Access section at the bottom of the user's profile and select Enable API Access.
  5. Make sure Multi-Factor Authentication is off for this user, then save the user.
Notes
Use a regular user, not a Third-Party Developer user. ShipHero's Third-Party Developer users connect with tokens instead of a password, so they cannot be used with the Power My Analytics connection form. If you are not a ShipHero administrator, ask your administrator (or your 3PL) to complete this step for you.

Step 2: Add ShipHero as a data source in your Hub

  1. In your Power My Analytics Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Click + Add new source.
  3. Choose ShipHero from the connector gallery. You can type "ShipHero" in the search box to find it quickly.
  4. In the connection window, enter:
    • Email: the email of the ShipHero user from Step 1
    • Password: that user's ShipHero password
    • Name (optional): a nickname to help you identify the account in your Hub
  5. Click Connect.
Your ShipHero account is now connected. It appears as one account under your ShipHero data source, labeled with the name you entered (or the user's email), and Power My Analytics begins backfilling up to 24 months of your order and purchase order history. You choose which warehouses to report on when you set up your data source in Data Studio. To get started, see the ShipHero Data Connector User Guide.

Troubleshooting Connection Errors

  • "ShipHero rejected the email or password": Check that the email and password are correct, that API access is enabled for the user, and that MFA is off for the user.
  • "ShipHero refused this login. Try again in a few minutes": ShipHero briefly refused the sign-in. Wait a few minutes and try again. If it keeps failing, ask your ShipHero administrator to confirm that API access is enabled for the user.
  • "ShipHero did not answer. Try again in a few minutes": ShipHero did not respond in time. Wait a few minutes and try again.
  • You can't find the API Access section: Only ShipHero administrators can change a user's API access. Ask an administrator, or your 3PL, to enable it for you.
  • Your data source stopped syncing after it was connected: The user may have been removed, had API access turned off, or had MFA turned on in ShipHero. Fix the user in ShipHero, then connect your ShipHero source again with its email and password.
For other issues, see Basic Troubleshooting.

Remove Your ShipHero Data Source from Power My Analytics

  1. In your Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Locate your ShipHero data source in the list.
  3. Open the three-dot Action menu and select Remove source, then click Confirm.
Notes
Removing the source stops Power My Analytics from collecting your ShipHero data. Any Data Studio reports that use your ShipHero data source will stop returning data once the source is removed. To revoke access in ShipHero as well, turn off Enable API Access for the user (or remove the user) on the Users & Roles page.
