How to Connect to Zoho Billing

How to Connect to Zoho Billing

Info
Connecting Zoho Billing to Power My Analytics takes one sign-in: add Zoho Billing as a source in your Hub, sign in with Zoho, and approve read-only access. This guide walks you through it, plus how to connect another organization and how to remove the connection later. For what you can report on once you are connected, see the Zoho Billing Data Connector User Guide.
Notes
Zoho Billing is a Beta connector. It is available and supported now, and it appears in your Hub's source gallery with a BETA label. While it is in Beta, some fields and behavior may still change as we continue to improve it.

Requirements

  • An active Zoho Billing account with the organization you want to report on.
  • A Zoho login with access to that organization. Your Zoho Billing role needs permission to view Subscriptions, Invoices, Customers, Payments, Credit Notes, Plans, and Add-ons.
  • No API key is needed. Zoho Billing connects with a standard Zoho sign-in, and your Zoho data center (US, EU, UK, India, Australia, Japan, Canada, or Saudi Arabia) is detected automatically.

Connect Zoho Billing to Power My Analytics

Step 1: Check your default organization in Zoho Billing

Power My Analytics connects the organization marked as your default organization in Zoho Billing (or your first organization, if none is marked as default). If you manage more than one Zoho Billing organization, make sure the one you want to report on is set as your default before you connect.

Step 2: Add Zoho Billing as a data source in your Hub

  1. In your Power My Analytics Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Click + Add new source.
  3. Choose Zoho Billing from the connector gallery. You can type "Zoho" in the search box to find it quickly.
  4. Give the data source a name you will recognize, then click Connect.
  5. In the Zoho sign-in window, sign in with the Zoho account that has access to your Zoho Billing organization.
  6. Review the permissions Power My Analytics is requesting and click Accept.
Alert
Sign in with a Zoho user who can view every billing module. Power My Analytics requests read-only access to subscriptions, invoices, customers, payments, credit notes, plans, and add-ons. If the Zoho user's role cannot view one of these modules, that table comes back empty in your reports.
Your Zoho Billing organization is now connected. It appears as one account under your Zoho Billing data source, labeled with the organization's name. Power My Analytics begins collecting your data right away: subscriptions, invoices, customers, payments, credit notes, plans, and add-ons are copied in full, and history is backfilled for invoice line items (90 days), credit note line items (365 days), and transactions (2 years). To get started, see the Zoho Billing Data Connector User Guide.

Connect Another Zoho Billing Organization

Each Zoho Billing data source connects one organization. To report on another organization:
  1. In Zoho Billing, set the organization you want to add as your default organization.
  2. In your Hub, add Zoho Billing as a new data source (Step 2 above) and sign in with the same Zoho account.
Notes
Changing your default organization in Zoho Billing later does not change an organization you have already connected. Each Zoho Billing data source keeps reporting on the organization it was connected with.

Troubleshooting Connection Errors

  • "Could not determine Zoho Billing organization": The Zoho account you signed in with does not have access to a Zoho Billing organization. Sign in with the Zoho account that you use for Zoho Billing, then try again.
  • The wrong organization is connected: Power My Analytics connects your default Zoho Billing organization. Set the organization you want as your default in Zoho Billing, then add Zoho Billing as a new data source. You can remove the source for the organization you do not need.
  • A table is empty after connecting: The Zoho user who connected the source may not have permission to view that module. Update the user's role in Zoho Billing (or use a user who has access), then reconnect your source from Sources > Action > Reconnect source.
  • The source stopped syncing after working before: Your Zoho authorization may have been revoked, or the Zoho user may have lost access to the organization. Reconnect your source from Sources > Action > Reconnect source and sign in again.
For other issues, see Basic Troubleshooting.

Remove Your Zoho Billing Data Source from Power My Analytics

  1. In your Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Locate your Zoho Billing data source in the list.
  3. Open the three-dot Action menu and select Remove source, then click Confirm.
Notes
Removing the source stops Power My Analytics from collecting your Zoho Billing data. Any Data Studio reports that use your Zoho Billing data source will stop returning data once the source is removed. Removing the source does not change anything in Zoho Billing.
