Facebook Insights keeps post data and video data in two separate report tables. The cleanest way to report on both is to build one data table for your posts and a second one for your videos and Reels. This guide shows you how to set up both correctly.
Why Separate Tables?
In Power My Analytics, Facebook Insights organizes its data into distinct report tables (including Posts, Videos, and Pages). Standard posts (images, links, carousels, and text) live in the Posts report, while videos and Reels live in the Videos report.
Because the fields for each content type come from a different report, a single data table should draw from just one of them. If you add video fields to a posts-based table (or post fields to a videos-based table), those fields return no data. Building one table per report keeps your data complete and accurate.
Prerequisites
Table 1: Posts (Standard Content)
Use this table for images, links, carousels, and text posts. Build it from fields in the Posts report.
Example metrics:
- Views (Facebook views)
- Interactions
- Likes and Reactions
- Comments Total
- Shares Total
- Facebook Link Clicks
Example dimensions:
- Post ID (to break down by individual post)
- Published (the date the post went live)
Some older post-level reach and impressions fields have been deprecated by Meta and are no longer collected. For a current, complete list of available Posts fields, open Tools > Schema Explorer in your Hub and select Facebook Insights. For account-level reach totals, use the Page-level reach fields rather than summing post-level values.
Table 2: Videos and Reels
Use this table for video content. As of 2025, Meta publishes new Facebook video uploads as Reels, so this table covers both standard videos and Reels. Build it from fields in the Videos report.
Example metrics:
- Views
- Video Minutes Viewed
- Video Average Play Time
- Video Views - 3-Second (Videos)
- Video Impressions Unique Lifetime
- Reels Total Plays
- Reels Replays
- Video Likes
Example dimensions:
Limitations to Be Aware Of
- Video data is only available for the past 12 months.
- Because Meta has unified videos and Reels, some older video metrics may not match the values you see in Meta Business Suite.
- Facebook's API provides limited data on Stories. There is no separate Stories report; for story performance, use the Video Stories by Action Type Distribution metric together with the Video Stories by Action Type dimension, both available in the Videos report.
Setting It Up in Power My Analytics
- In your Hub, open Data Builder and open (or create) a dataset for Facebook Insights.
- Click Add Table.
- Select Facebook Insights as the data source.
- For your posts table, select fields from the Posts report (for example, the metrics and dimensions listed above).
- Save the table.
- Repeat steps 2 through 5, this time selecting fields from the Videos report for your videos and Reels table.
To confirm it worked, your reporting destination (Data Studio, Google Sheets, and so on) will now show two separate tables you can reference independently in your reports.
