Error: Missing Google Campaign Manager 360 Scopes

Error: Missing Google Campaign Manager 360 Scopes

Info
When you connect Google Campaign Manager 360 (CM360) to Power My Analytics, or when Power My Analytics collects your Campaign Manager 360 data, you may see a message that permissions are missing. This means the Google account you connected did not grant the permission Power My Analytics needs to read your Campaign Manager 360 reports. This guide explains the cause and walks you through granting the permission.

Error

  • In your Hub, right after you sign in with Google: a Permissions Required message that says "Google Campaign Manager 360 requires additional permissions that weren't granted during sign-in."
  • In a report, Data Builder, or your data source's sync status: an error that mentions missing scopes or insufficient authentication scopes for Campaign Manager 360.
  • Affected Data Source: Google Campaign Manager 360
  • Occurs: When the Google account connected to your Campaign Manager 360 data source has not granted the Campaign Manager 360 reports permission, either during sign-in or because the permission was removed later

Cause

Power My Analytics collects your Campaign Manager 360 data through Google's Campaign Manager 360 reporting API, which requires the following permission:
  • View and manage DoubleClick for Advertisers reports (DoubleClick for Advertisers is the former name of Campaign Manager 360)
Google's sign-in screen lets you uncheck individual permissions, so this error usually happens when that box was left unchecked during sign-in. It can also happen if the permission was later removed from your Google account, for example from the third-party access settings in your Google Account or by a Google Workspace administrator.

Solution

If you see the Permissions Required message while connecting

  1. Click Grant permissions in the message.
  2. Choose the same Google account you used to connect Campaign Manager 360.
  3. On Google's permissions screen, check View and manage DoubleClick for Advertisers reports (and any other boxes listed), then click Continue.
Your connection completes, and Power My Analytics begins collecting your Campaign Manager 360 data.

If the error appears after you connected

Disconnect your Campaign Manager 360 data source, then reconnect it and grant the permission when Google asks.
Notes
Disconnecting and reconnecting a source will not impact any existing reports in Power My Analytics.
  1. In your Power My Analytics Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Locate your Google Campaign Manager 360 data source, open the three-dot Action menu, select Remove source, and click Confirm.
  3. Click + Add new source and choose Google Campaign Manager 360 from the gallery.
  4. Choose the same Google account that has your Campaign Manager 360 user profile, and sign in.
  5. On Google's permissions screen, check View and manage DoubleClick for Advertisers reports (and any other boxes listed), then click Continue.

Verify the connection

After you grant the permission, your Campaign Manager 360 advertisers appear as accounts under your Google Campaign Manager 360 data source, and your data begins syncing. Reload your report to confirm the error is resolved.
Notes
Power My Analytics uses this permission only to create and run the reports it needs to collect your data. It does not change your campaigns, ads, or trafficking settings. Google does not provide a read-only option for this permission.

Still Seeing the Error?

  • No advertisers appear after you grant the permission: The Google account may not have a Campaign Manager 360 user profile, or its user role may not include reporting access. See the troubleshooting steps in How to Connect to Google Campaign Manager 360.
  • The Google permissions screen is blocked: If Google shows "Error 400: admin_policy_enforced" or "Access blocked," your Google Workspace administrator needs to allow Power My Analytics. See Error 400: admin_policy_enforced.
