Error: Missing Google Display & Video 360 Scopes

Error: Missing Google Display & Video 360 Scopes

Info
When you connect Google Display & Video 360 (DV360) to Power My Analytics, or when Power My Analytics collects your Display & Video 360 data, you may see a message that permissions are missing. This means the Google account you connected did not grant the permissions Power My Analytics needs to read your Display & Video 360 reports. This guide explains the cause and walks you through granting the permissions.

Error

  • In your Hub, right after you sign in with Google: a Permissions Required message that says "Google DV 360 requires additional permissions that weren't granted during sign-in."
  • In a report, Data Builder, or your data source's sync status: an error that mentions missing scopes or insufficient authentication scopes for Display & Video 360.
  • Affected Data Source: Google Display & Video 360 (shown in your Hub as Google DV 360)
  • Occurs: When the Google account connected to your Display & Video 360 data source has not granted both Display & Video 360 permissions, either during sign-in or because a permission was removed later

Cause

Power My Analytics collects your Display & Video 360 data through Google's Display & Video 360 and Bid Manager reporting APIs, which require the following permissions:
  • Create, see, edit, and permanently delete your Display & Video 360 entities and reports
  • View and manage your reports in DoubleClick Bid Manager (DoubleClick Bid Manager is the former name of the Display & Video 360 reporting API)
Google's sign-in screen lets you uncheck individual permissions, so this error usually happens when one or both of those boxes were left unchecked during sign-in. It can also happen if the permissions were later removed from your Google account, for example from the third-party access settings in your Google Account or by a Google Workspace administrator.
Notes
Google may also list other permissions that your Google account granted to Power My Analytics for other Google connectors, such as Google Sheets or DoubleClick Search. Those can stay checked. The two permissions above are the ones Display & Video 360 requires.

Solution

If you see the Permissions Required message while connecting

  1. Click Grant permissions in the message.
  2. Choose the same Google account you used to connect Display & Video 360.
  3. On Google's permissions screen, check both Display & Video 360 permissions listed above (and any other boxes listed), then click Continue.
Your connection completes, and Power My Analytics begins collecting your Display & Video 360 data.

If the error appears after you connected

Disconnect your Display & Video 360 data source, then reconnect it and grant the permissions when Google asks.
Notes
Disconnecting and reconnecting a source will not impact any existing reports in Power My Analytics.
  1. In your Power My Analytics Hub, select Sources from the menu.
  2. Locate your Google DV 360 data source, open the three-dot Action menu, select Remove source, and click Confirm.
  3. Click + Add new source and choose Google DV 360 from the gallery.
  4. Choose the same Google account that has access to your Display & Video 360 partner or advertiser, and sign in.
  5. On Google's permissions screen, check both Display & Video 360 permissions listed above (and any other boxes listed), then click Continue.

Verify the connection

After you grant the permissions, your Google DV 360 data source reconnects and your data begins syncing. Reload your report to confirm the error is resolved.
Notes
Power My Analytics' connector will never edit, create, or delete anything in your Display & Video 360 account. The full-access wording appears because Google does not offer read-only options for these permissions.

Still Seeing the Error?

  • Cost and spend columns are blank, or an advertiser is missing: This is a user role or access issue, not a permissions issue. Connect with a Google account whose Display & Video 360 role (Read only or above) covers the partner or advertiser you want to report on. See How to Connect to Google Display & Video 360 (DV360).
  • The Google permissions screen is blocked: If Google shows "Error 400: admin_policy_enforced" or "Access blocked," your Google Workspace administrator needs to allow Power My Analytics. See Error 400: admin_policy_enforced.
