How to Connect to Google Search Console
Looking to bring your Google Search Console data into a single, automated reporting workflow? This guide will walk you through connecting Google Search Console as a data source in Power My Analytics, so you can centralize your organic search performance metrics, create comprehensive reports, and make data-driven decisions about your SEO strategy.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Google account with Verified Owner or Delegated Owner permission on the Search Console property you want to connect
- Permission to grant Power My Analytics access to your Google account during the OAuth flow
If you do not yet have an Owner role on the property, follow Step 1 below to grant it before continuing.
Step 1: Add a User as Owner in Google Search Console
To grant Owner access to a user in Google Search Console:
- Log in to Google Search Console and click on Settings.
- Select Users and permissions.
- Click Add user and enter the email address of the user you want to add.
- For Permission, select Owner.
- Click Add.
Step 2: Add Google Search Console as a Data Source in Power My Analytics
- Log out of all Google accounts except the one you want to connect.
- Log in to your Power My Analytics hub at https://hub.powermyanalytics.com.
- Navigate to Sources from the main menu.
- Click + Add new source.
- Select Google Search Console from the list of available sources.
- Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
- Grant Power My Analytics the required permission scope: View search console data for your verified sites.
Once connected, Google Search Console will appear in your list of active data sources. Your Search Console data will automatically begin syncing to your Power My Analytics data warehouse — backfilling is available up to 16 months. When the initial backfill is finished, you can use this data in Looker Studio reports, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or export it to your preferred data destination.
Sitemap data: Sitemap data is only available as lifetime data — historical sitemap data starts accumulating from the day you first connect Google Search Console to Power My Analytics.
