Adding an account to a data source can add a charge to your bill, and that charge starts when you connect the account, not when you first use it. This article explains what triggers an account add-on, where to see your current count, how new accounts are billed mid-cycle, and what happens when you remove one.
Adding an Account Is What Starts the Charge
When you connect an account to a data source, Power My Analytics begins counting it right away. Billing starts at the moment of connection: it does not wait until the account syncs, appears in a report, or is opened. An account you added "just to try" and never used still counts toward your plan the same as one you report on every day.
This is the most common billing surprise, so it is worth saying plainly: connecting an account is the billable action. Using it is not.
Whether a newly connected account actually adds a charge depends on how many accounts your plan already includes:

5 accounts total, shared across all your data sources

See Exactly What You Are Being Billed For
You can check your account count at any time:
- In your hub, click the hub name in the top-right corner and select Billing.
- Open My Plan.
- Under Data Connector Breakdown, each connector shows its billed entities against the amount your plan includes, for example "2 of 20". A connector that is over its included count is highlighted, and that connector is what drives your add-on charge.
- Scroll to Cost Breakdown to see the add-on lines (accounts, business locations, and so on) and your total.
When a New Account Appears on Your Bill
How a newly added account is billed depends on whether you pay monthly or yearly:
- Monthly plans: the new account is added starting from your next renewal date. It is not prorated partway through your current month; the add-on appears on your next bill and on each bill after that.
- Yearly plans: the added account is billed on a monthly basis, applied on your billing day each month (the same day-of-month your plan renews). For example, if you add an account on the 5th and your billing day is the 15th, the charge is applied on the 15th. So even on a yearly plan, added accounts are billed as your usage grows rather than waiting for your annual renewal.
Note: This is different from changing your plan tier. When you upgrade or downgrade, the new plan is billed immediately and the amount already paid under the old plan is prorated. Adding an account within your current plan follows the account rules above, not the plan-change rules.
When You Remove an Account
Removing an account stops future charges for it, but the timing depends on your plan, and any credit for the current period is not automatic:
- Monthly plans: the account keeps billing through your current cycle. Your bill goes down in the first full billing period after you remove it. There is no partial credit for the days left in the current month.
- Yearly plans: the reduction takes effect at your next annual renewal. Because a yearly plan is an annual commitment, removing an account partway through the term does not generate a prorated credit.
Credits are not issued automatically. If you were billed for accounts you did not mean to keep, remove them and then
contact our support team. Include your Subscription ID and the invoice number, and we will review your request.
You may notice that added accounts can raise your bill during the term while removed accounts only lower it at the next cycle or renewal. That difference is intentional.
Before You Remove an Account
Removing an account can disconnect a data source that one of your live reports depends on. Before you remove an account, check which reports use it so you do not lose data in a report you still need. If you are unsure,
contact our support team and we will help you confirm before you make the change.
How to Avoid Surprise Account Charges
If you are a Hub Owner on a Business or Pro plan, you can cap how many accounts can be connected per data source type so no one on your team adds more than you intend:
- Click the hub name in the top-right corner and open Settings.
- Scroll to Account Limits.
- Set the Max Accounts value and click Save.
Setting a limit below your current usage does not disconnect existing accounts; it only blocks new ones until your count drops below the limit. See
Manage Account Limits in Your Hub for details.
