How to Connect to Google Business Profile

How to Connect to Google Business Profile

Info
Looking to bring your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) data into a single, automated reporting workflow? This guide will walk you through connecting Google Business Profile as a data source in Power My Analytics, so you can centralize your local search and customer interaction metrics, create comprehensive reports, and make data-driven decisions to improve your local presence.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • A Google account with Owner or Manager access to the Google Business Profile account you want to connect
  • Permission to grant Power My Analytics access to your Google account during the OAuth flow

Step 1: Add Google Business Profile as a Data Source in Power My Analytics

  1. Log out of all Google accounts except the one you want to connect.
  2. Log in to your Power My Analytics hub at https://hub.powermyanalytics.com.
  3. Navigate to Sources from the main menu.
  4. Click + Add new source.
  5. Select Google Business Profile from the list of available sources.
  6. Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
  7. Grant Power My Analytics the required permission scope: See, edit, create, and delete your Google Business listings.
Notes
Power My Analytics' connector will never edit, create, or delete anything in your Google Business Profile account. The full-access permission is required because Google does not offer a read-only option for the Google Business Profile API.
Once connected, Google Business Profile will appear in your list of active data sources. Your Google Business Profile data will automatically begin syncing to your Power My Analytics data warehouse — 13 months of historical data is imported automatically on the initial backfill, with up to 18 months available via manual backfill. When the initial backfill is finished, you can use this data in Looker Studio reports, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or export it to your preferred data destination.

Step 2: Manage Your Business Locations

Google Business Profile billing is unique because Power My Analytics charges per location rather than per account. After connecting, you can choose which business locations are included in your reports:
  1. In your Power My Analytics hub, go to Sources in the left navigation.
  2. Find your Google Business Profile data source and click Manage Accounts under the Action menu.
  3. Click Enable Accounts to open the account selection screen.
  4. Select which business locations you want to include in your reports, then click Save.
Notes
Only enabled locations will be included in your reports and data collection. Disabled locations are automatically excluded from all reporting and billing.
Notes
Data delay: Google Business Profile data may be delayed by up to 4 days. Review data may take several hours to populate when you first connect.
For more on per-location billing and plan inclusions, see What Are Business Locations?
