Get valuable insights into your e-commerce and marketing automation performance by connecting your Omnisend account to Power My Analytics. This guide will walk you through setup, reporting capabilities, and important considerations.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Omnisend to Power My Analytics, ensure you have:

  • An Omnisend account with a connected website or store
  • Your Omnisend API key

Creating an API Key in Omnisend

  1. Log in to your Omnisend account.
  2. Click on Store Settings in the left menu, then select the API keys tab.
  3. Click the Create API key button in the upper right corner.
  4. Enter a name for this API key, such as “Power My Analytics”.
  5. Enable the following API key permissions under Select API key permissions:
    • Campaigns
    • Contacts
    • Orders
    • Products
    • Carts
    • Events
    • Brands
  6. Click the Create API key button, then copy your API key.

Adding Omnisend as a Data Source

  1. In the Power My Analytics hub, navigate to Sources.
  2. Click + Add new source and select Omnisend.
  3. Enter your Omnisend API key.
  4. Click Connect to authenticate.

Creating a Data Studio Report

Follow these steps to create a Data Studio report using your Omnisend data:

  1. In the PMA hub, navigate to Reports > Data Studio
  2. Select Omnisend under Create Data Studio Report (this will open the official Data Studio application in a new window)
    • Step 1:
      • Name your data source (e.g., rename “Untitled Data Source” to "Omnisend - Organization Name")
      • Power My Analytics Hub: Choose your PMA hub from the dropdown
      • Optional: Leave "Use report template for new reports" checked to use the PMA demo template
      • Click Next
    • Step 2:
      • User Account: Select your Omnisend account (for real data) or "Sample Account" (for sample data)
      • Click Next
    • Step 3:
      • Select a Currency for use in reporting
      • Click Connect (top right) to complete the data source configuration
    • Step 4:
      • Click Create Report (top right)

Key Reports and Fields

The Omnisend connector provides access to a variety of data, including:

  • Campaign Metrics: All Devices Clicked By, All Devices Opened By, By Devices Clicked Desktop, By Devices Opened Mobile, By Devices Opened Tablet, Opened by Desktop, Opened by Mobile, Opened by Tablet, Sent, Opened, Clicked

Limitations and Important Considerations

  • Cached Data Requests with Unique Metrics and Date Dimension: When a unique metric is paired with the date dimension, this will result in a request for cached data instead of a request for live data. For more information, please see Understanding Cached and Live Data Requests.
  • Backfilling: 24 months of historical data will be backfilled when you first connect your Omnisend account as a data source.
