When you sign up for Power My Analytics, you can choose whether your data is warehoused in a US or EU Google Cloud data center. This article explains what each option means, which is best for your needs, and what to do if you need to change your selection after signing up.
Power My Analytics automatically warehouses your marketing data in Google Cloud so it's always available for your reports and integrations. During the onboarding process, you'll be asked to select the Google Cloud data center region where your data will be stored — either a US Data Center or an EU Data Center.
This choice determines the physical location of the Google Cloud facility where your data resides. It does not affect which data sources you can connect, what features are available to you, or how your data syncs and refreshes — those work the same way regardless of which region you select.
This setting applies to PMA's own managed Google Cloud warehouse. If you are on the Custom plan and interested in hosting your data in your own database or infrastructure, that is a separate feature called the Sovereign SQL Warehouse. See
Power My Analytics' Sovereign SQL Warehouse Solution for more information.
Available Data Center Regions
| Option | Google Cloud Region | Physical Location | Best For |
| US Data Center (Default) | US-Central1 | Council Bluffs, Iowa, USA | Users and clients primarily based in the United States, or those with no specific data residency requirements |
| EU Data Center | Europe-West3 | Frankfurt, Germany | Users and clients based in the European Union, or those with GDPR or EU data residency compliance requirements |
The US data center is a low-carbon facility. Regardless of which region you choose, your data is managed by Google according to their security and encryption standards. For a full overview of how PMA protects your data, see How Does PMA Secure My Data?
Which Region Should I Choose?
Choose the US Data Center if:
- You and your clients are primarily located in the United States.
- You have no specific data residency, data sovereignty, or compliance requirements that mandate EU-based data storage.
- You are unsure — the US Data Center is the default option and is suitable for most users.
Choose the EU Data Center if:
- You or your clients are based in the European Union and require that their marketing data be stored within EU borders.
- Your organization must comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or other EU data privacy laws that include data residency requirements.
- Your clients' contracts or data processing agreements specify that data must remain within the EU.
How to Select Your Data Warehouse Region During Onboarding
Your data warehouse region is selected at Step 3 (Warehouse) of the PMA onboarding process, which you'll encounter when first signing up and creating your hub.
- On the Data Warehouse screen, review the two storage options.
- Select either US Data Center or EU Data Center by clicking the corresponding radio button.

- Click Continue to proceed to the final onboarding step.
If you do not make a selection, the US Data Center will be used as the default.

Changing Your Data Warehouse Region After Onboarding
Your data warehouse region can only be selected during the onboarding process described above. After your hub has been created, this setting is not available in your hub's Warehouse Settings and cannot be changed by you directly from within the hub.
If you need to switch your data warehouse region after onboarding — for example, from the US Data Center to the EU Data Center — please contact our support team and we'll take care of it for you.
Switching your data warehouse region after onboarding will require your data to be migrated from one data center to the other. During migration, there may be a period of temporary disruption to your data syncing and reporting. Our support team will advise you on the process and timeline when you submit your request.
To request a change to your data warehouse region, submit a support ticket and include the following information:
- Your hub name
- The email address associated with your PMA account
- Your requested data warehouse region (US Data Center or EU Data Center)
